Having been born to a family of musicians — her father was a violinist-concertmaster at Belgrade Opera House and professor at Belgrade Music Academy (Serbia) and her mother was a voice soloist and voice teacher — Rita began her musical education when she was 6 years old. In love with the violin from the first note, she knew that the violin, stage and teaching would be her future.
After primary music school and high school, she graduated with a Masters in violin performance at the Music Academy of Belgrade in Serbia. She continued her education at The Kodolanyi Janos Music Institute of Budapest (Hungary) and Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.
She has performed with the Palace Theatre Manchester, NH; North Shore Philharmonic orchestra, Salem, MA; Belgrade Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and The Serbian Chamber Orchestra; Symphonic Orchestra RTS (National Serbian Television);Royal Strings of St.George (Serbia/Germany); Music Theatre Terazije and Belgrade Opera (Serbia); Captain Wolf Band, (Boston, MA) among many other ensembles both in the United States and abroad. Her recording experience has been as the principle violinist with the Captain Wolf Band “Call of The Wolf” in 2011 and “Another Call of The Wolf” in 2012, and over 6 cd’s with Royal Strings of St.George with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra concertmaster Sreten Krstic.
Rita enjoys teaching violin students of all ages and levels. Her classical training as well as her experience with other genres adds depth and lot of fun to her teaching style and approach. She plays both an acoustic and electric four and five string violin.
